HSE Fee for Intervention Thursday 27th September 2012

For some time the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has imposed fees for the intervention on a number of clearly defined manufacturing sectors where health and safety hazards are increased.

With the introduction on 1st October 2012 of Fees for Intervention, all business and enterprises throughout the UK that fall under the jurisdiction of the HSE will be liable to face financial charges for the HSE's time investigating what they consider to be material breaches of H&S law.

The government view is that those who break H&S laws and regulations whereby putting their employees at risk should pay the cost of the HSE's time in dealing with the matter rather than this cost being borne by the tax payer
